Here (above) Bambi is in the kitchen, between my desk and my exercise bike. She has such an innocent look on her face, the kind that earned her the name Bambi. When I took this photo Bambi was watching Zen make trouble up on my desk. Zen was standing on her hind legs and walking her front paws up a hand woven wall hanging. I have since moved the hanging. Photo taken 2/07.
Here (above) Zen is obviously sleeping in my bathroom sink late one morning. She actually woke up to notice me taking the photos and in this one graciously closed her eyes again so I could capture how cute she looks asleep. She likes posing for photos. :-) She has little white whiskers even around her eyes. The bathroom is the warmest room in the whole apartment. Photo taken 2/07.
Here (above) are Zen and Bambi together on a sunny winter afternoon. Zen is on the window sill and Bambi is keeping warm on the radiator cover. I trapped them both outside the very building that they are in as this photo is taken. They both survived lots of cold and rain out there, particularly Bambi because I didn't trap her until Dec 12, 2006. I wonder what they think about as they look down out the 11th floor windows. Photo taken 2/07.
Here (above) Zen is finding that the warm laptop mommy's been using makes an OK pillow. In the first photo by her chin you can see she's put the green "caps lock" light on. That's a post-it note that was on the edge of the laptop that she shoved aside while making herself comfortable. So how incredibly cute does your kitten need to be for you to let her turn computer time into kitten nap time? Zen's experiments continue.... Photos taken 2/07.
This (above) is a shot of Bambi just after she was gazing up at Zen, probably daring her to come down and play-attack. Bambi had just noticed I was photographing them, and so she kept her pose but directed her gaze at me. That green towel she's under is the
cat fort! The cat fort is my proud creation, giving people furniture a dual function as cat furniture. It's just a towel fastened at each corner to the under structure of a cast iron table. The cats use it all the time. When Zen is being too aggressive with play fighting Bambi will run right under the towel into the cat fort. It's like touching base or something because Zen never goes in after her. She just waits outside it ready to ambush. Later Bambi initiates and goes on the offensive too. They get a lot of exercise and excitement with eachother. Photo taken 2/07.
Here (above) Bambi was once again watching Zen do something on my desk. It may have been right when I was taking those pictures of Zen posing next to my laptop. Anyway, Bambi was thoroughly enjoying the show, completely unprepared for me to even look in her direction. She's all relaxed and in the open which is unusual for being so near me. She's right next to a low table so she can seek shelter if needed. There's just a touch of alert that creeps into her expression as I take this photo. Someday she will lose all her fear of me and my fiance and my friends. She's defitely made progress. Photo taken 2/07.
